CRUSHED BY HORSES
LORRY SKIDS INTO WAGON DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED When a motor-lorry, belonging to Turners and Growers, Limited, skidded in Quay Street, opposite the end of the Central Wharf, at about 8 o’clock this morning, it crashed into a horse wagon driven by David Upton and owned by J. R. Herring, a carrier. The lorry skidded violently and crashed into the side of the wagon. Mr. Upton was thrown from his seat, falling between the horse. They swerved in fright and he was badly crushed against the wagon-shaft. He was attended by the St. John Ambulance and then rushed to the Auckland Hospital. His condition was reported this afternoon to be satisfactory, though he was suffering from abdominal injuries. Mr. Upton is a married man, aged 49. He lives at 14 Jason Avenue, Edendale.
