BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL
The Birkenhead School Committee held its monthly meeting last evening, Mr. J. McDonald, chairman, presiding. Mr. A. G. Menzies, headmaster, reported that the roll stood at 336, three less than last month, w’hile the monthly average was 321, this being the same as last month. These figures include the special classes. Miss M. E. .Ronsford had been appointed as an assistant at the school from April 1, in place of Miss Macdonald, who i had resigned. This being the last meeting of the ! committee before the householders' j election, the headmaster tendered his I sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the committee for their unfailing support and their wholehearted efforts j in all that affected the welfare of the school during the past year. Mr. A. B. Miller, architect for the Education Board, wrote that £4O was available for tarring and sanding the | school grounds. It was decided to I get the grounds done if the estimate i came within this amount. ! Mr. D. W. Dunlop, secretary to the I Education Board, wrote in reference to the request for repairs to the school flagstaff, in which he informed the committee that the board was unable to make a special grant toward the cost of repairs to the flagstaff. Mr. McDonald, the chairman. commented that the flagstaff had been presented to the school by a wellknown citizen of the district, and the Education Board could not now* keep it in repair. The letter -was referred j to the incoming committee. I The chairman thanked the memb»»?--n f the committee for their untirin~ help during the past year.
