MANUFACTURERS HELP DONATION OF £SO At yesterday’s meeting of tlie general committee of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association it was decided to forward the sum of £SO as a donation to the Auckland Advertising Cluh for the preparation of the booklet advertising Auckland which is to he circulated throughout the world. Representing the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association, Mr. R. H. Greville addressed the meeting and outlined the scheme and the progress of the inquiries being made on behalf of the proposal. Local bodies, he said, were not only joining the association, but were contributing to its funds. A membership of 5,000 was aimed at, for the sooner the citizens showed they wanted it the sooner they would get it. He appealed to the business men of Auckland to get Into the movement and help it along. Captain Ashdown supported the previous speaker and dealt with the advantage of the proposed bridge from the point of reduction in transport costs. After the deputation had withdrawn it was moved that the association support the Harbour Bridge proposal. “I don't like asking for a hurried resolution,” said the chairman. It was decided to defer the question until the next meeting.
