"BUILD IMAGES”
SELF-ORGANISATION EXPLAINED PERSONALITY IN BUSMESS Having been told of the value organisation of statistics in business, members of the Auckland Advertising Club at to-day’s luncheon were told of the organisation of personality h» business. The speaker was the Rev. A. Niblock, and the chairman Mr. F. Petterd. “We pften find that men who are great organisers frequently fail to organise themselves, so that there is a danger of the soul of organisations, their life and pep, failing,” said Mr. Niblock. The individual was an organised system of habits, but sight must not be lost of the fact that apart from physical habits there were “thought,” jr mental habits, and '‘feeling,” or emotional or spiritual habits—not speaking from a religious point of view. Actual study in one American house had shown that workmen with badphysical habits considerably reduced, production. One firm, by eliminating incurables and properly training others, had done the same amount of work with 200 fewer operatives. The speaker then discussed at some length the way in which physical, mental and emotional habits and reactions affected each other, and said that if one would build up images of what was desired and then organise the physical habits, there were possible great changes. People knew whether they were optimistic or otherwise. They knew what they wanted to be and if they built up images accordingly they could gradually train their feelings and habits to conform with those images. The failure of many thousands was due to the fact that they did not expect anything from themselves. They did not imagine and build up to meet their images. In advertising success was obtained when the images were clearly set out in words or illustrations, making the people see strong images of the things to be sold. Expectations would always bring results if there was a clear and right image attracting the feelings.
