LECKIE CLIMBS HIGH
TO FIGHT FOR EMPIRE , t CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST ON APRIL 20 Advice has been received in Auckland that Johnny Heckle, featherweight champion ol New Zealand, who recently defeated Billy Grime, will fight Willie Smith, of South Africa, at Melbourne on Saturday week. April jO, for the feather-weight, championship of the British Empire. Smith will be Leckie’s biggest obstacle to date, and if he can beat the Springbok great things may be expected of him in the future. Smith has had more experience among the topnotchers than Leckie, and he is a fast, and clever boxer, but lacks a killing punch.
