a MR. J. H. ANSELL TO STAND r CANDIDATE FOR COUNCIL In response to the request, of a large deputation, Mr. J. H. Ansell, president „t the Symonds Street Businessmen’s Association, this morning agreed to stand for a seat on the City Council. The deputation comprised Grafton businessmen and ratepayers, and was headed by Dr. W. H. Horton, who made a strong appeal to Mr. Ansell to contest a seat. Dr. Horton referred to him as a •voung business man of the class Wanted on the council, and believed ,he organising experience which he gained as a major in the army would be of added value. Mr. Ansell agreed to stand, and a committee was set up to further h'is candidature.
