MEETINGS IN PROVINCE TAURANGA’S BRIGHT PROSPECTS <Special to TUB SUN) \ TAURANGA, Saturday. Last year the Tauranga Hockey Club enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in its history. The report presented at the annual meeting held last evening stated that in the men's competitions. Rovers won the Butler Cup, the Innes Cup and the Press Cup, and True Blues won the Kent Cup. In the women’s competition the Grey Rose* Bowl was won by Aretas for the fifth time, and now becomes the property of the club. This trophy will be replaced by a silver cup, which has been donated by Air. W. S. Harris. Aretas also won the Alerryweather Cup and buttons competition. The Randle Cup was won by the school girls’ team. The association was represented by men’s and ladies’ teams in the country week competitions in Auckland. The balance-sheet showed the finances were in a satisfactory condition, with a credit balance of £ 33. It was decided to open the season on April 17. MEETING AT MATAMATA * (Special to THE SUN) MATAMATA, Saturday. Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Alat.amata Hockey Club were: Patron, J. F. Vosper: president, T. H. Prowse; vice-presidents, Rev. Turner; secretary, Mr. J. Alelville; club captains, Aliss Ellery and Air. D. Whitehead; management committee, Airs. R. Hawes, Alisses R. Plill and Ellery, Rev. Brown, Alessrs. Hawes, Whitehead and Wrigley; auditor. Air. R. Burton; delegates to the Piako Association, Airs. Hawes, Miss Hill, R. Plawes and A. E. Wrigley; selectors, Airs. Hawes, Aliss Ellery and Whitehead; social committee, officers, exofficio, A.lrs. Hawes, Alisses Hill and Ellery, Rev. Brown and Air. C. Vincent; referees, Alessrs. Burton, Hawes and Whitehead. Colours: Ladies, green and navy blue: men, black and white. It was decided that the travelling expenses should not exceed 3s for men and Is 6d for women for each trip. Any excess was to be paid by the club. All members of teams were to pay whether they were travelling by bus or private car. The Rev. Brown and Messrs. ATelville and Wrigley were appointed a committee to make the ground arrangements. The opening practice is to be held on April 13.
