DRAUGHTS CHAMPION

WIN FOR CALDERWOOD Press Association DANNEVIRKE, Tuesday. At the final session of the Draughts Congress the championship was won by D. Calderwood, who beat G. A. Brown, the title-holder. After a win each in the first two games the ballot gave Calderwood the black side of the 22-17 Dundee. Brown developed somewhat weakly. and Calderwood took every advantage and forced his opponent into an untenable position. In the fourth game, Calderwood, requiring only a draw, forced the play and secured his object. E. Gibbard secured third place with three games. The outstanding aggregate scores in the minor tournament are: Hutchins, 11 wins, 4 draws, 3 losses, 13 points; Botting, 10, 5,3, Young, 9,6, 3, 12; Bruce, 9,5, 4, lli; Millington, 7,5, '6, 9J; Gibson, 3,8, 7,7; Nicholson, 6,2, 10. 7* imadbolt, 3,6, 8,6; Haines, 2,5, 9, Lyon, 2,4, 9, 4.
