AIR THRILL AT SYDNEY

PILOT OPENS PARACHUTE DURING FALL (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.21 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A thrilling parachute descent was witnessed at Penrith Speedway yesterday, when Bruce Shipway, an air pilot, leapt from his plane at a height of 3,400 feet. He fell 2,000 feet before he was able to make the parachute open. The release appliance broke off during the fall and Shipway had to unfasten the parachute himself. He eventually came safely to the ground in the bed of a creek, stampeding a heVd of cattle grazing in the vicinity.
