FIRE IN GASWORKS
BRICK FACTORY DAMAGED Press Association WELLINGTON, Sunday. An outbreak of fire occurred yesterday afternoon in the Wellington Gas Company’s building at Miramar, which is used for making fire bricks. Fortunately, beyond the fact that the roof was completely destroyed and a large area of grass burned, no damage was done to the plant. Brickmaking, however, will be suspended for about two weeks. Great volumes of dense black smoke ascending for some time led people to think that a disastrous fire had occurred. - _
