TAMAKI BOATING CLUB

DISTANCE CANOE RACE Seven competitors faced the starter for the annual long-distance canoe race for the cup presented by Mr. W H. Pinliey. The course was about four and ahalf miles, from the clubhouse to the buoy off Flat Rock wharf, keeping outside the mark stick off the reef, and back to the starting point. After a gruelling race, the order of finishing was:—S. Walters 1, C. Rosewarne 2, L. Clarke 3. Also started: R. Lawson, U. Moller, J. Nicholls, and N. Clark. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, it was decided that as S. Walters, a new member, had failed to observe the stick off the rock, he should fo'rfeit the cup, but be presented with a special prize. C. Rosewarne was awarded the cup, with L. Clarke run-ner-up.
