WORK OF CITY ENGINEER

COUNCIL’S APPRECIATION TESTIMONIAL TO MR. BUSH As a testimonial to the city engineer, Mr. W. E. Bush, who has resigned the position to take up an appointment as drainage engineer to the city of Brisbane, the City Council on Thursday evening approved a special remit, a copy of which is to be given to Mr. Bush. Its text in part is as follows: “The council records its recognition of Mr. Bush as a competent engineer, whose works have demonstrated his ability. The inauguration of an efficient drainage system affecting the city and adjacent areas, the designing and completing of the Nihotupu gravity dam, the introduction and development of the city’s concrete street paving policy, the preparation of elaborate reports and estimates for the further development of water conservation schemes, the planning of various traffic outlets, are some of the matters which may be appropriately referred to.

‘‘Mr. Bush’s relations with councillors have always been of a cordial nature, and his willingness, coupled with the care exercised In Investigating and reporting are to be commended. The justness and consideration shown toward his staff have evoked a strong sense of loyalty toward him. His dealings with the public have always been marked by his courtesy, patience and attention. The council has pleasure In extending to Mr. Bush Its best wishes for his future success.”
