TWO DIPLOMATS APPOINTED British Official Wireless * RUGBY, Tuesday. Captain Clifford, secretary to the High Commissioner for South Africa in London, Mr. J. S. Smit, has been appointed representative in South Africa of the British Government. Mr. Houston Boswell, second secretary in the diplomatic service, has been selected for service as administrative assistant to Captain Clifford. This appointment has resulted from the resolution adopted by the Imperial Conference of 1926 on the subject of the development of a system of communication and consultation between the British and Empire Governments.
