ARE CITY RATES GOING UP?
’’When the city estimates for next year come down, you are going to see one of the most phenomenal rises in rates that has ever been seen, no matter who is going back to power.” This startling declaration was made by Cr. W. H. Murray, candidate for the Mayoralty, at the opening of his campaign last evening. ‘’lf the civic authorities had been honest with you,” he said, “your rates would bave gone up last year.” A voice in the audience challenged the speaker. “You put them up by 44d last week,” it said. “Oh, yes,” Mr. Murray explained cheerfully, “but that was only in one direction.”
