FANCIES IN CLASSICS

YA/'ITH so many race meeting to come up for decision on Saturday, it is astounding to find that the A.R.C. is the only controlling body with classic races figuring on the programme. At Ellerslie on Saturday there are two classics on the card, and in each there is one horse dominating the situation. They are: G.N. Oaks: Prodice. Champagne Stakes; Supremacy. There is an old and true saying among turf betters: “Small fish are sweet.” Well, the fish will be small on Saturday in the two classics, so as an all-up proposition the two winners would barely work out at a two-to-one quotation. Two winners, at any old price, are better than two losers, no matter what their starting price may be.
