A dense fog enveloped the Riccarton course early this morning, and did not entirely disappear till woi*k had been concluded. As a result, some gallops could not be timed. Most fast work was don© on the outside of the course proper. Battle Colours was just in front of Pink Not© over seven, in 1.28. Noteworthy ran six in 1.19, and Rin Tin Tin seven in 1.29. Starshooter covered seven in 1.31, and Count Cavour and Amor were together over a mile in 1.45 3-5. Rapier went twice round on the plough at half pace. Paperchase covered seven in 1.28 3-5, and Aberfeldy jumped four hurdles well. Winsome Boy beat Desert Song over five in 1.5. Louise, picked up by Countersign, ran seven in 1.32 1-5, and Royal Saxon beat Moratorium over five in 1.3. Speed Merchant Silver Paper left five behind in 1.2, th© best of the morning. Niglitmareh and Beau Geste ran the last • six of seven in 1.18, and Blue Metal and Miss Nightraid covered half a mil© in 49 1-5. Bernera went five in 1.3 4-5, and Poetess and Master Clarence half in 49 4-5. Auda ran three along the back in 40. Sea Raid went five in 1.5, and Magna Charta six in 1.15 1-5, the leader accompanying him for the last half in 50 1-5. Arrowmir and Mentone left half a mile behind in 50 1-5, and Buoyant went six in 1.17. Bonomel jumped four hurdles well. Troilus and Money Bag, who accompanied him over the first two, were not so good. Kulrange jumped four hurdles smartly. Seatown and First Money have arrived from the North, while Royal Saxon and Blue Metal are on the scene from the South.
