INTEREST IN SHARE ISSUE Considerable interest is being taken by the investing public in the issue of shares in the new banking concern, The Mercantile Bank of Australia, Ltd. The prospectus shows the company to have an authorised capital of £3,000,000, divided into 200,000 cumulative S per cent, preference shares of £5 each, 200,000 cumulative A preference shares of £5 each and 200,000 ordinary shares of £5 each. Fifty thousand A preference shares are being offered for subscription at a premium of £l. Even with the premium added the return to investors will be £6 13s 4d per cent., an attractive figure for preference banking scrip. Only 100,000 ordinary shares are being offered for subscription.
