Cr. T, Bloodworth Replaces Mr. Mason
MAYORAL CONTEST LABOUR MEN FOR COUNCIL It was announced this morning that Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., had withdrawn from the forthcoming contest for the Mayoralty of Auckland City in favour of Cr. T. Bloodworth, In explanation of his action Mr. Mason made it clear this morning that he had offered his services only because Mr. Bloodworth found difficulty in arranging to stand. “Mr. Blood worth’s long and intimate acquaintance with local administration and the special value of it in the Mayoral chair has always been recognised,” said Mr. Mason. “The result you now know, and the course has been approved by the Labour Party.” The secretary of the Labour Party also announces the selection of tlie following candidates as the Labour Party nominees: FOR THE. CITY COUNCIL Mr. J. S. Adeane Mr. J. Liddell Mr. K. F. Barter Mrs. E. G. Macky Mr. F. 3ST. Bartram Mr. B. Martin Mr. T. 'Bloodworth Mr. O. Mcßrine Mr. Id. Campbell Mr. E. J. Phelan Mr. S. J. Carr Mr. J. Purtell Mrs. A. M. Cassie Mr. F. W. Schramm Mr. J. T. Jennings Mr. H. G. Staley FOR THE HOSPITAL BOARD Mr. M, J, Savage, Mrs. M. M. Dreaver M.P. Mrs. I. McCready Mrs. A. M. Cassie FOR THE HARBOUR BOARD Mr. T. Bloodworth In the case of the Harbour Board, as in the case of the Mayoralty, there was no selection ballot, Mr. Bloodworth being the only entrant. The list of City Council and Hospital Board candidates has been determined by a selection ballot.
