The required grounds will be allocated by the Reserves Committee ci.ii a later date. Ths Auckland Rugby Union forwarded a cheque for £2o, making its total contribution toward the improvement of the area £SU. The union hoped it would not be called upon to pay any rent for the use of the grounds. The Auckland Hockey Association also forwarded a cheque for £lO. These sums carry a £1 for £1 Government subsidy. Cr. R. G. Speight, chairman of the Reserves Committee, pointed out that a large area of the reserve would be down in young grass in the coming football season, and stock could not be allowed on it. The council therefore would lose the revenue hitherto derived from grazing fees, and he considered it only fair that the sports bodies using the reserve should pay a reasonable rent toward its upkeep. On ihs motion the question was referred to the Reserves Committee,
