COROMANDEL COMPLAINT

OPERATIONS BY CANDLELIGHT

(Special to THE SUN) COROMANDEL, To-day

Asking that he support their application for the electric lighting of the Coromandel hospital, a deputation waited yesterday on the Hon. E. A. Hansom, Minister of Public "Works.

Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., said that an electric lighting scheme had been evolved after tlie Health Department had refused to allow major operations to be performed at night by the light of kerosene lamps. Tlie Public Works Department, however, had opposed this installation scheme.

Mr. S. James, chairman of tho Coromandel County Council, said that recently he was the only remaining volunteer to hold a candle while an operation was being performed. The Minister promised to give attention to the deputation’s requests.
