BANK SHARES AT PAR

OPPORTUNITY FOR INVESTORS During the past quarter of a century there has been remarkable development in the commercial life of Australia and New Zealand. As a natural corollary, the volume of banking has also increased to an astonishing degree, yet there has not been a new commercial bank formed to handle this increase for a very long period. Elsewhere in to-day’s issue is announced the formation of a new Australian and New Zealand banking organisation—the Mercantile Bank of Australia, Limited —shares in which are now being offered for public subscription. It is commonly realised that the profits made by banks are usually high, and bank shares have proved in every instance a safe and attractive investment, with excellent returns to those who recognised their sound value. The Sydney “Sun” of January l. 1928, stated: “Bank shares provide one of the safest and most.* profitable channels for investments available.” Shares in existing banking organisations, however, naturally stand at almost a prohibitive premium. This issue of the Mercantile Bank of Australia. Limited, provides an attractive opportunity of buying ordinary bank shares at par.
