KILLED AT CROSSING
WOMAN STRUCK BY GOODS TRAIN ENGINEDRIVER’S DISCOVERY Press Association WANGANUI, To-day. The badly mutilated body of Mrs. Edith Maud Atkins was found on the railway line about two chains on the Aramoho side of the Grey Street level-crossing shortly before 11 o’clock on Saturday night. Slie was apparently struck by a goods train from Marton due at Wanganui at 9.20 p.m. The first indication that there had been an accident was when the engine of the train was taken into the shed for the night, and blood was noticed on the cowcatcher, by the driver, F. J. Vincent. An examination of the under gear revealed further traces of a tragedy. A search was instituted and the body found.
