ERICA MORINI
REMARKABLE RECORD Although quite young, Miss Erica Morini, the world-famed Viennese violinist, has already had a remarkable career. She first played in public in Vienna when she was 11 years old, ancl one of her first appearances was at Leipzig with the famous conductor, Arthur Nikisch, and the Leipzig Orchestra. Owing to the derangement of travel caused by the war, the young j .soloist was once compelled to play the Mozart Concerto without rehearsal. So little was known of Erica Morini in Leipzig that there was a burst of laughter from the audience and orchestra when Nikisch escorted the young artist on to the stage, but this was soon changed to applause and cheers, and at the conclusion of the performance, Nikisch said to the audience, as he kissed the young genius, “This is not only a wonder child, but a child and a wonder.” When Miss Morini first played in America in 1921, she created a furore which was unusual even in New York, where many famous artists have caused great excitement. She gave four recitals in one month, afterwards playing with every orchestra of importance and appearing altogether at 71 concerts during her I first tour of the United State#. Miss Morini has now made four tours of America and has given Innumerable recitals throughout Great Britain and Europe. She makes her first appearance in Australia at the Sydney Town TV** l on - Esster Saturday - under the direction I of E. J. Carroll.
