SHORT-WAVE TELEPHONY

ADVANTAGE TO N.Z. AND AUSTRALIA EXPERIMENTS IN SYDNEY (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Speaking on the subject of Empire telephony at a radio dealers’ luncheon at which New Zealand ws represented, Mr. E. T. Fisk, managing-director of Amalgamated Wireless, Limited, referred to important investigations and tests his organisation had. been making in short-wave telephony with New York, Java, Berlin, Paris and other places.

He was unable to understand why the British post office authorities seemed unwilling to undertake experiments asked for from Sydney. Mr. Fisk added that it would seem that there are some influences at work to prevent these experiments between Britain and Australia. The utilisation of a radio-telephone service, for even two hours daily between the cities of Australia and New Zealand would be an immense advantage.
