NAVY LEAGUE APPEAL
To-day, for the first time in eight years, the Auckland branch of the Navy League is making an appeal to the public for funds. Fourteen stalls are situated in the city, Newmarket, Ponsonby and Newton, and members of the league and of other similar associations are helping in the work. The league has made it one of its chief duties to assist distressed seamen and their dependents, not only in the navay services but also in the merchant marine, and it is mainly for this purpose that the appeal is being made.
