AT 19 EXHIBITIONS
N.Z. GOODS DISPLAYED IN ENGLAND
ORGANISED PUBLICITY During last year, New Zealand products and manufactures were displayed at 19 exhibitions held in the United Kingdom, covering a period of KS days. In addition a number of shopping week and trade window displays were held. This information is contained in a report received by the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Industries and Commerce, from the High Commissioner in London, Sir James Parr, in connection with the publicity given New Zealand goods. The publicity section of the High Commissioner’s Office was responsible for the setting up and conducting of the Dominion’s displays. In nine of the 19 exhibitions New Zealand shared space in the Empire Marketing Board’s sections, and was granted free space. The stands were also designed and erected by the board without cost to the New Zealand Government.
The exhibits from New Zealand, mainly comprising meat, dairy produce, honey and kauri gum, were most attractively displayed. Over 110,000 samples of butter were sold of a value of nearly £I,OOO, and honey samples of a value of nearly £4OO were also disposed of. The High Commissioner’s Office also undertook a fairly comprehensive display of New Zealand products and manufactures at the Canadian National Exhibition held in Toronto last September.
