PRIMARY SCHOOL PROBLEMS
The quarterly meeting of the Auckland Primary School Committees’ Association was held last evening. Mr. G. E. Spooner presided. The proposal that a scheme for insuring school children against accidents should be inaugurated was considered. The question arose out of a letter from the Te KLuiti School Committee asking whether a teacher or a parent was liable for medical expenses if a teacher called a doctor to attend a child. The Education Board hud stated the teacher was not liable.
After some discussion the Rev. J. Greenwood said such a scheme as suggested was in operation in England, and appeared satisfactory. It was decided to refer the question to the executive for consideration. A Rotorua remit urging that the transport allowance for school children attending schools under the cen - tralisation scheme of education, be increased, was discussed at length. It was decided that the whole question seriously required revision.
