SOLICITORS REBUKED

DRASTIC MEASURES THREATENED LAX BEHAVIOUR IN COURT (From Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. Some sharp remarks between members of the legal profession, and uncomplimentary references to the complainant in a maintenance case in the Pukekohe Court to-day, led Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., to- issue a warning to practitioners regarding their conduct in Court.

“When tho Court opened this morning I heard one young practitioner direct his client to step out of the box,” said the magistrate. “He was almost taking charge without consulting the Court.” Tho magistrate also referred to a certain lack of courtesy on the part of some solicitors, and threatened to adopt drastic measures in the event of there being any future laxity.

The members of the profession to whom tho rebuke was directed were two solicitors from Auckland.
