EFFECT OF TAXI WAR TRANSPORT BOARD NEUTRAL The taxi war is causing: bus owners some concern. They wrote to the Transport Board yesterday suggesting that the taxis had come within the restrictions of the Act by charging the fares they did on licensed service routes. The board decided that it could do nothing under the Act as at present framed, and that the seeking of the new regulations was barely justified, the taxi fares as at present not being regarded as likely to continue for long. “It is not often that five people can ride five miles in a taxi for two shillings, and I say let them enjoy themselves while they can,” remarked one member.
