MORRINSVILLE INTERESTS
The Public Works Drainage engineer has advised that the Whakahoro relief canal dredging is nearing completion. The main canal excavation is finished, with the exception of about 35 chains. Some 85' chains of fencing have been erected and material for a further ICO chains is on the ground. A new picture theatre, built for Mr. T. Martin, was opened in Morrinsville on Saturday night. The Main Highways Board has written to the Piako County Council agreeing to a £2 for £1 subsidy for metalling three and a-half miles of No. 1 road, Waitoa to the West Road bridge at Tahuna. It will be necessary for the council to raise a loan to 'finance the work. Air. F. C. Cowan, who has been a very active member of the Morrinsville Rugbv Union for many years, is leaving next week for Matamata.
