PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The Papatoetoe Town Board received •advice last evening from the Main Highways Board, stating that after consideration of recent representations regarding an increased subsidy on the maintenance charges of the Great South Road, it regretted that no increase could be made. The engineer reported his approval of the roads on Bradstreet’s subdivision, subject to drainage easements being allowed on certain of the sections. The chairman and town clerk were authorised to confer with the ministers of the district regarding the arrangement of a programme for Anzac Day service. Arrangements were completed with the Manukau County Council for the laying down of Buckland Road in permanent material. Two tenders were received for the erection of the pump house and the lining of the well, and on the recommendation of water engineer both tenders were declined, as they were above the estimate of £450. It was agreed to carry out the work by day labour. The tenders of Messrs. Avenell, Brierley and McLeod, and Goss and Mullen, for the supplying and laying of approximately 19 miles of pipes for the water supply were referred to the engineer for consideration.
