DRUIDS CONFER

ORDER NOW SOLVENT CIVIC WELCOME EXTENDED Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The biennial conference of the Grand Trudge of Druids, North Island, opened last night. The Grand President referred to the fact that the Order had now reached the stage of actual solvency. The surplus of funds amounted to £45,500. The report of the Grand Lodge trustees, which was adopted, showed that the invested funds had earned, during the year, £29,192. All the money was on loan in New Zealand. Securties for the total loans granted last year was £57,515. The general balance-sheet, adopted to-day, showed the total assets as £514,595, including £401,338 in the sick and general fund. The report of the board showed a total membership of 15,885. Acting under the instructions of the last Grand Lodge meeting, the board has registered a rule allowing women members into the society. This has proved successful. Up to December 31, 17 lodges had admitted 110 financial women members, and it was reported that approximately the same number of honorary members had joined. The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. G. A. Troup, attended to-day and extended a civic welcome.
