THRILLING MOTOR RACE

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX MELBOURNE, Monday. The first Grand Prix 200 miles road race for motor-cars ever held in Australia took place to-day at Phillip Island. The track was six and a-quar-ter miles long and the race went 31 laps. Twelve British ears, 10 French and one Italian competed. There were many exciting incidents. A. Terdich, driving a Bugatti car, was first. W. Lowes, in a Lombard car, was second. R. Brearley, in a G. P. Bugatti, was third. The winner’s time was 3 hours 48 minutes 21 seconds.
