Three Persons Shot by Sniper Hidden in Thick Scrub Received 9.20 a.m. MELBOURNE. To-day. THREE people—Percival Coffey, aged 11, with a bullet wound in his back; Miss Esther Patchett, aged 45. bullet wound in right thigh ; Miriam Coffey, aged 18, bullet wound in neck—were shot while sitting on the verandah of a house at lower Ferntree Gully, near Melbourne, in mysterious circumstances. The house is surrounded by thick scrub, of which a thorough search was made. Altogether, six shots were fired.
