SCHOONER’S CREW LUCKILY RESCUED AFTER EXPLOSION
Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The fuel tank of the auxiliary schooner Ventura exploded when the vessel was off Cape Hawke. The ship was soon blazing from end to end. Fortunately the steamer Nirvana sighted the Ventura, and a medical officer from the steamer rendered aid to a man named McMillan, who —as stunned by the explosion. Ho .s dragged into a dinghy by his brot.ior. The Ventura was abandoned.
