BRITISH ELECTION.—There is feverish activity at the headquarters of all the British political parties, as it is believed that the date of the General Election has been fixed for May 30.— A. and N.Z.-P.A. ROTARY GOVERNOR.—The delegates to the Rotary Conference at Canberra, nominated, without opposition, Mr. A. C. C. Holtz, of Melbourne, as Governor of the Australian District of Rotary International. BLAZE IN N.S.W. —Nine business houses were burned in a fire at Bingara, a northern country town in New South Wales. There were no firefighting appliances, and heavy damage was caused. GOLF 1 IN FLORIDA —Diegel and Hagen won the l'our-ball international golf championship from Farrell and Sarazen, at Miami, Florida, after a 30hole match. First one team and then the ether kept taking the lead from start to finish.—A. and N.Z.-P.A. AUSTRALIAN CENSUS. —Since the census in 1921, the population of Australia has increased by 901,043 persons, representing an average rate of slightly TOore than 2 per cent, per annum. Of the total of 6.336.777 persons, 3.241.530 are males and 3.095.247 females. ZEPPELTN CRUISES. —A n a mbl - tk»us programme of summer flights has been arranged by Count Zeppelin, including Greenland and Iceland, and °nding with a grand tour of the world. The first flight will be to Palestine on March 27, with 75 passengers.—A. and N.Z.-P.A.
