FRANKLIN ODDFELLOWS
DEPUTY GRANDMASTER ELECTED A meeting of the Franklin District Lodge was held this week in the Paragon Theatre, Papakura, to elect a DeputyDistrict Grand Master to succeed P.G. Bro. D. H. Pemberton, whose term of office has expired. The following lodges were represented: Lily of Franklin, Mizpah, Elm Rebekah, Star of Waiuku, Excelsior, Clevedon and Star of i’upukifa, 125 members being present. Three nominations were received for the position, the candidates being P.G. Bro. R. J. Stevenson, Lodge Excelsior; P.G. Bro. 11. M. Barriball, Star of Waiuku; and P.G. Bro. R. Whitley, Star of Papakura.
The bailot favoifed P.G. Bro. 11. M. Bari'iball, who was declared elected. Bro. Barriball thanked the members for electing him to the x>osition. Bros. Stevenson and Whitley also thanked the members for the support accorded to them and congratulated Bro. Barriball on having attained the high position. Congratulatory speeches were made by Bro. R. Schlaepfer, P.D.D.G.M.. Bro. D. H. Pemberton, P.D.D.G.M., Bro. H. Short. P.G., Bro. R. McKenzie, P,G., and others.
GOLDEN CLOUD COMING. —The American steamer Golden Cloud, which after loading at Pacific Coast ports left Los Angeles on March 1, sailed from Honolulu on Wednesday en route to Auckland. The vessel is due here on March 26. Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited, are the local agents.
BARON BELHAVEN LEAVES ANTWERP.—Advice has been received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company that the steamer Baron Belhaven sailed from Antwerp on March 10 with a cargo of basic slag for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is expected at Auckland about April 24. KEELUNG DUE SUNDAY. —Bringing a general cargo from New York the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Keelung is due at Auckland on Sunday. She has been allotted a berth at the Prince’s "Wharf. Later the vessel proceeds to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Wanganui to complete discharge. The New Zealand Shipping Company will act as the local agents. GOLDEN FOREST IN PORT. —An arrival in the stream at 6.30 o'clock this morning was the Oceanic and Oriental Navigation Company’s cargo steamer, Golden Poorest, which later berthed at Central Wharf. She has a cargo of Douglas fir, Oregon pine, eedarwood, asphalt in drums, cased benzine and general merchandise, which she loaded at Portland (Oregon), San Francisco and San Pedro. She also brought 473 bags of mixed letter and parcel mail. After completing loading at San Pedro, the vessel proceeded to Honolulu for fuel oil, and from there made a direct passage to Auckland. Excellent weather was experienced throughout the trip. At Auckland the Golden Forest will discharge 150,000 feet of her timber cargo, 4.000 cases of benzine. 1,451 drums of asphalt, a quantity of mixed cargo and her complete quota of mail. From here the vessel will proceed to Wellington, Geelong and Melbourne to complete discharging. She will then load wheat at Victoria and South Australian ports for Japan. Captain L. C. Drewson is in command of the Golden Forest, and with him are the following officers:—Chief officer, Mr. I’. S. Axdal; second officer, Mr. J. P. Ness; third officer. Mr. E. Brewer; chief engineer, Mr. G. Williams; second engineer, Mr. R. Brady; third engineer. Mr. R. Lehman: fourth engineer, Mr. E. P. Hand; wireless operator, Mr. J. H. Bender: chief steward, Mr. A. Ottesen. The Golden Forest will leave Auckland to-morrow night. Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane are the local agents for the vessel.

RARAWA (4.30 p.m.), 3,077 tons. Bark, for New Plymouth. The Anchor Company's vessel Regulus is due at Onehunga on Sunday to load for Nelson and West Coast ports. She leaves on Monday. The Ronaki arrived from Raglan, Kawhia and Waikato Heads last night. She is scheduled to leave for Hokianga and Auckland at 3 p.m. to-day.
The Hauturu is to arrive from Raglan on Saturday, and leaves on Monday for the same port, Kawhia and Waikato Heads.
WEST COAST CARGO SERVICE. —The Northern Company advises that the Ronaki. atfer relieving the Arapawa on the West Coast service, is to leave Onehunga for Hokianga and Auckland to-day at 3 p.m. The Arapawa, after undergoing overhaul and survey is to leave Auckland for Hokianga and Onehunga on March 20.
The Hokianga arrived at Hokianga at 6.45 a.m. to-day. She is to leave for Onehunga to-morrow afternoon.
