Shows Big Increase EXPORTS NEARLY RECORD OVER £4,000.000 TO GOOD Figures issued by the Govern- j ment Statistician in Wellington yesterday show a very satisfac- j tory position in connection with the Dominion's trade. yXIOKTS for February were valued 1J at £8,056.083, this being only the second occasion .on which the j £5,000,000 mark has been exceeded; in one month, the other being i £5,330,263 in 1325. Exports exceeded imports by j £4,377,540 in February, this constituting a record favourable balance. Compared with last year expoi'ts show an inci’ease of £1,626,000, while imports have expanded to the extent of £2,037,700. The apparent favourable balance is consequently lower by £411,696. The valuation of exports exceeds by £895,158 that for the corresponding period of 1924-25, the year that produced the record total of £57,499,976 —that for 1927-28 was £55,619,285. Although imports have increased, in comparison with last year, the total is still lower than many of the three preceding years.
