SMALLER EXHIBITS
SUGGESTIONS FOR BUTTER SHOWS Press Association PALMERSTON N., To-day. That New Zealand suffers annually through the exhibition of butter and cheese at agricultural and pastoral shows* was the opinion expressed at a meeting of the Manawatu and West Coast Dairy Companies’ Association by the chairman, Mr. S. A. Broadbelt (Levin). He stated that the produce which had been under show conditions for any time deteriorated, and the butter could subsequently be sold only to pastry cooks, at a cheap rate. He suggested that the size of exhibits be cut in half, which would also enable factories to exhibit at more shows. The exhibition of butter was not a profitable business at present. It was decided to write to the Factory Managers’ Association for its opinion.
