LAND VALUATIONS
PROTESTS AT TAKAPUNA At a public meeting at Takapuna last evening a section of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1928. dealing with the lowering of valuations of farm-lands situated within marine boroughs, and not suitable for subdivision, was subject to severe criticism.

The land owned by Messrs. Brett comprised 13SJ acres, with an unimproved value of £ 7,830, and improvements to the extent of £875. Under the capital values system the council levied £163 in rates, and under the unimproved system the amount was £293.
A resolution protesting against the council s attitude was carried by the meeting.
At to-night’s meeting of the council Mr. Guiniven will move that the resolution objected to be rescinded.
