theft prosecutions four men charged (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, To-day. The Huntly Police Court this morning resembled a draper’s establishment. Before Messrs. H. Potter and E. ,T. Farrell. J.P.'s, Roy Clifford Hill, aged “2, Charles Joseph McCabe, aged 20, Vltred John Robinson, aged 19, and Charles Clifford Morris Brunton. aged j 9, were charged with breaking and entering the store of Adam Cali at Ohinewai ou March 6; converting a car valued at £350 to their own use; and the theft of two tins of benzine from the Public Works Department. A- plea of guilty was put in on behalf of the prisoners on ail charges by Mr. N. H. Kawson. On the second charge all were convicted and fined £5 and costs, and ~>n the last charge they were fined £2 and costs.
The indictable charge is being heard and Mr. Adam Gall has identified a portion of the missing property valued at. £47 153 Bd. The court “5 crowded and the cases have evoked widespread interest, owing 7‘ recent petty thieving in the neighhourhood. Tho body of the court was littered with the recovered goods. and em~ bnced practically everything for u. well-stocked _draper’s shop. Senior Constable Ingram conducted the prosecution on behalf of the Police. 0!: the major charge, the four men were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being refused. The Bench said that the oflence was too serious to grant bail at this stage.
