RESERVOIR COLLAPSE
INQUIRY COMPLETED MR. FURKERT RETURNING Mr. F. W. Furkert. engineer- In-oh:- f to the Public Works Department, is , concluding his inquiry into the col’lapse of the Mount Eden Reservoir today. and will return to Wellington this evening. Mr. Furkert, who will report tv' the ! City Council, was given a free hand to conduct his inquiry into the cause i of the wall collapsing and pouring a • torrent of SOO,OOO gallons of water j down the mountain side. He will also ! investigate the repair proposals and | the new reservoir works with the idea ■of expressing an opinion on then ability to stand the strains to be put ! upon them. i Reports from various officers have ■ been received by the City Council, but j until Mr. Furkert reports .it is not known whether there will bo any formal inquiry.
