WOMENS LABOUR PARTY

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Auckland women’s branch of the New Zealand -Labour Party was held in the club rooms in the Tabernacle Building, last week, Mrs. M. B. Soljak presiding. The following resolution was passed unanimously: “That this branch endorses the loan proposals submitted by the Auckland Transport Board and .considers the extension of the tramway system necessary as providing increased transport facilities, work for unemployed, and an impetus to settlement in outlying suburbs.”

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—President, Airs. Harrison; vice-presidents, Airs. Cossie and Miss Sanderson; secretary, Airs. Soljak; treasurer, Airs. Connon; delegate to L.R.C., Airs. Cossie: executive committee, Mesdames Prince, Gibson, Hutton, Hallct, Vercoe and Crookshank. It was decided to hold a conversazione in the club room on Wednesday, ATarcli 20, when Dr. Hastings would give an address on “The Future of the Labour Alovement in New Zealand.”
