Service Station Thefts William Bramhill, a labourer aged 20, who was stated to have been consorting with thieves for some time past, was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention to-day at Wellington on charges which included the theft of £36 2s Bd, and mischief by damaging property. Bramhill was one of a party which has been breaking into service stations, but he only acted as watcher. For this reason he was not charged with breaking and entering, but only with theft.

Assault Charge “They knocked down a drunken man, sat on his chest and belaboured him heavily,” said Senior-Sergeant O’Grady when James Mackin, a seaman, aged 34, and Ettie O’Toole, aged 41, were charged at the Police Court this morning with assaulting Carl Grey. O’Toole was also charged with a breach of her prohibition order. A remand was granted until tomorrow and bail was allowed Alackin in one surety of £25.

Motor Truck Stolen A half-ton motor truck was stolen from Kingsland during the week-end and had not been recovered at a late hour to-day. It was the property of Air. R. J. Phillips and was stolen from the garage beside his house between 7.54 o'clock on Saturday evening’ and 8.45 o’clock on Sunday morning. The truck is an Oakland, bearing the registered number 6.412. It is painted green and has a white top.

Conversion of Car Described as a marine officer from the Pipiriki, Norman Helme Turner, aged 26, was charged at the Police Court this morning with converting to his own' use a motor-car valued at £IOO and belonging to Gilbert Benjamin Chivers. It was said that Air. Allan Aloody was appearing for Turner and a remand was granted until to-morrow morning'. Bail was allowed in one surety of £IOO.
