CELEBRATIONS AT DOMAIN EXTENSIVE PREPARATIONS Scenes unparalleled in tire history cf j sport in New Zealand will be wit- : nessed in the Auckland Domain on ! Saturday, March 16. The St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on that date will set a new standard for the Dominion; in fact, for the whole of the world outside the large cities of America. For weeks past a committee of 200 people has been working hard arranging spectacular events and a magnificent sports programme. Loudspeakers are to be installed so that visitors in any part of .the Domain will be able to hear everything that is going on. Among the many attractions will be a floral fete, in which hosts of motor and other vehicles will take part. Masses of flowers and decorations are being prepared. Whippet racing, both flat ajid hurdle events, will satisfy lovers of canine speed. The interhouse girls’ sports, an organisation with a huge following in Auckland, will stage many events, and there will be cycle and foot races to keep visitors on their toes. A ballet of 100 girls will be seen in spirited Irish national dances, and there will be a big number of free shows for the children under the direction of Mr. Sheldon Kindlev. Lieut. La fife y will have other attractions up his sleeve to delight everybody. In the evening one of the finest Irish national concerts has been . arranged for the great day. It will be held at the Town Hall, under the direction of Mr. M. Guthrie. The whole of the proceeds from the carnival and concert will go to orphanages at Takapuna and Howick.
