GRAND AND LYRIC
“DRUMS OF LOVE'’ AND “SEVENTH HEAVEN” The L. W. Griffith picture "Drums Of Love” will be shown this evening at both the Grand and Lyric Theatres. Lionel Barrymore appears as Lon Cathos de Alvia. a giant of a man. gnarled and stooped by war, who rules with tyrranical sway over a large dominion. With him is his handsome brother, Leonardo, played by Lon Alvarado, the two bound by a solemn oath \ faith to strike ueatli to anyone who will dishonour the name of their house. The elder brother marries the daughter of a rival feudal baron, and while her husband is quelling a distant mutiny she is forced by circumstances into the arms of the younger brother. The dramatic conclusions reached upon the return of the husband shows Barrymore more forcibly than ever as the master of dramatic acting. The acting of Mary Philbin. as the Princess Kmanuplla. is a perfect portrayal of the many phases required by the role. The second big attraction .<t both theatres is the old favourite, “Seventh Heaven.” a beautiful story of Diane and Chico, two waifs Paris, played by Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell.
