N.Z. TROTTING BOARD MR. Jl. M. SAMSON RETIRES CHAIRMAN’S FINE TRIBUTE j Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Mr. J. M. Samson, who is leaving New Zealand for a year, tendered his resignation as a member of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting' Association to-day. The chairman of the board, Mr. J. H. Williams, said that Mr. Samson hud given many years of faithful service to the sport He was a good sportsman and was loved by all members of the association. The resignation was accepted with regret. ECHO OF LAPLANDERFREE CASE Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. An echo of the Laplander—Free Advice case was heard at to-day’s meeting of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association. The action of the Otahuhu Club, in deciding to take no further action , after the reopening of the inquiry, was endorsed by the board. It was decided to call upon Carl Nordquist, owner of Laplander, to ap- j pear before the nest meeting of the board to show cause why he should not withdraw, or substantiate, a statement made by him, “That Bryce had spoken to the judge at the conclusion of the Onehunga Handicap, and everyone had seen him except the stipendiary steward.” Under the Hammer PROPERTY SALES AND PRICES _+ > When “Fairmount,” the house and j property of the late Mr. Hugo Fried - j lander, in Seaview Road, Remuera, was | offered for sale at C. F. Bennett, Ltd's, I auction rooms, Queen Street, at noon to-day, bidding reached £5,750 before the property was passed in. Over fifty attended the sale and bidding began at £4,000, and advanced fairly rapidly for a time. 'Fairmount” comprised of 10 rooms and j offices, and stood on land over threequarters of an acre in area. The | grounds contained extensive ornamen- | tal gardens. At 1 p.m. to-day William A. Horne, Ltd., offered a property at the corner of Garry Road and Disraeli Street, Mount Eden, consisting of a fiveroomed dwelling and section. A sale was made at £1,200. Palethorpe and Parker offered at 11.30 a.m. to-day a section and cottage at the end of Richmond Road, Grey Lynn. It was purchased for £4IS. A bungalow of two flats in Brentwood Avenue, off Dominion Road, together with a section of 22 perches, was sold for £1,065, the mortgagee buying in. Properties in Parkdale Road, Edendale. and Sherbourne Road Mount Eden, failed to reach the reserve - price.
Eighteen sections were sold at auction this afternoon by Rutherford, Robinson and Austin. Bidding was keen. The sections are situated in Portland Road and Portland Crescent. Remuera.
