KING’S DEFEATS CHRIST’S OLD BOYS FIRST WIN FOR THREE YEARS

King’s College Old Boys defeated | Christ’s College Old Boys at King’s yesterday by eight wickets, thus gaining their first victory for three years. Mr. Averill was a prominent batsman for Christ’s College, hitting up a sound 23 runs. Simpson was very successful with the ball, taking eight wickets for 22 runs. The outstanding batsmen for King’s were: Kissling 36, Browne 31, and Jackson 29.

T. Sheen, the All Black footballer, opened up Christ’s College’s second innings, and in short time knocked up ;l useful 46 runs. B. Jlonkins also batted well, contributing 27 runs. King’s had 42 runs to get in half an hour, for an outright victory, and this was easily

NEW SOUTH WALES WINS SHEFFIELD SHIELD GAME SYDNEY, Wednesday. The Sheffield Shield cricket match, New South Wales v. South Australia, was concluded to-day. South Australia in its second innings scored 385 (Richardson 55, Whitfield 91). Fairfax took four wickets for 55 runs. New South Wales won by 60 runs.
