BIG VICTORIAN MEETING (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) MELBOURNE, Wednesday. At the Williamstowil rifle-shooting meeting to-day, in the Craig Williamson match (10 shots at 800 yards), Simmonds, 49, finished third and won £4. Masefield, 49, finished with an inner and won £2. Boon and Nix, 48, and Whiteman, 47, won £1 each. The remainder were: H. Feast, Piper, James, Orr. each 44: Kerr, 43; Roots, 42; Bolton, Mclvor and Swanson, 40; Paterson, 38: Hood, 37; J. Feast, 34; Soler, 32. Sargood match (10 shots at 900yds). The wind was strong, necessitating an allowance up to 23ft, and this resulted in poor scores. Kerr’s was a good performance. He registered New Zealand’s fourth win with a score of 47, taking the match and £lO. Other prize winners were: Boon, 45, £2; Roots and Masefield, 44: Nix, 42; Bolton and Simmonds, 41, £1 each. The remainder were:—Piper, 39; H. Feast and Whiteman, 38; Hood and Mclvor, 37: Paterson, 35 ; Swanson and James, 34; Feast, 32; Orr, 31; Soler, 24. In the Syme aggregate Masefield was fourth with 269 points, five points behind the winner. He took £ls. Kerr was seventh with 266 and won £5. Simmonds was eighth and won £3. Fourteen of the IS New Zealanders were in the prize-list for the aggre- i gate. For the opening stage of the King’s ! Prize match the atmosphere was cool and the wind still gusty. Seven shots had to be fired at 300, 500 and 600 yards. H. Feast showed some of his New Zealand brilliance. He was only beaten for first place in the count back with 102 and took the second prize of £6. The prize-winners were: Kerr, 99; Hood, 98; Nix, 97; Masefield, 96, £1 each. The remainder were: Roots and James, 95; Boon and Simmonds, 94; Mclvor. Orr and J. Feast, 95; Paterson and Soler. 92: Bolton. 89; Piper, 88.
