AUSTRALIANS ARE GOOD CUSTOMERS TRADE’S STEADY ADVANCE Australians may not know it, but they are among the heaviest whisky ! drinkers. I This is the opinion of Mr. A. O. Mae- | Gillycuddy, who arirved at Auckland ! this morning from Southampton by I the Mataroa. Mr. MacGillyeuddy, who is an Australian and who entered the I whisky business in England and Scot--1 land after his service in the Great i War. is in New Zealand to arrange for ! extension of the business of the firm of McNish, which has IUO years’ trading behind it. The agency in New Zealand is at Christchurch, and Mr. MacGillyeuddy goes there to-morrow evening. In about two months* time he will go to Sydney to take charge of the firm’s headquarters for Australia and New Zealand. There is an increasing demand for whisky, Mr. MacGillyeuddy says, and the export trade from the British Isles is continually extending. Australians are exceptionally heavy buyers, i Trade and economic conditions in ! England continue to improve gradual a ny. says Mr. MacGillyeuddy. and pre-war conditions are slowly being j regained.
